In this part of the test the examiner reads out a scenario and gives you some prompt material in the form of pictures or words. You have 30 seconds to look at the prompt card,and then about two minutes to discuss the scenario with your partner. After that the examiner will ask you more questions related to the topic.

Your company begins its foreign trade business this year. You are the Sales Director, preparing the annual report. Talk together for about 2 minutes about the topics you could include when you are preparing the annual report. Decide which 3 topics are going to be covered as important parts in the report.

A: Since this is the first year that our company begins foreign trade, I think I should report the foreign trade performance at the beginning.
B: Good idea.I am thinking to start with the top selling titles in Europe. It sounds exciting.
A: It does sound like a piece of good news, but actually, we have entered into that market for only 10months, and the market share is not very satisfactory. So I think it’s better begin with the sales performance in America.This is the main market during the past year.
B: American market…it fluctuates.
A: But the latter part of this year it recovered and reached the peak.
B: OK, the performance is not bad. We could mention it in the report. Will you say something about the future plan?
A: Yes, of course. The development plan on East Asia market is very important. It describes our future prospect.
B: But I think the analysis is more important. We have a small market share in European market and the American sales is not steady. I believe we should explain what had caused such situation and find out how to improve before we move to the future plan. It can ensure the Board and the share holders.
A: You’re right. We should give a thorough analysis.
B: So, the three main points we are going to report are the performance in America, the analysis of sales performance, and the future development plan on East Asia market.
A: Yes, that’s right.
