I would like to describe a sport I recently learnt to do, which is swimming. I did not grow up by the sea or by a river, so I did not know how to swim when I was a child. I only started to learn swimming this summer. To be honest, the learning process was challenging to me because I was afraid of water. But I had a very good coach and under her encouragement I conquered my fear and learnt to swim.
I think swirnming is a good way of exercise, especially in summer. Before I learnt to swim, I usually jog twice a week but it is very difficult to keep due to the hot weather here in summer. However, swimming is a cool way to exercise and replace jogging in the summer. That’s why there are so many people in the swimming pool. Secondly, I think swimming offers me different feelings compared with other sports such as jogging or badminton. Swimming brings me closer to water and I feel like I am a fish when I am swimming. I believe I will try more water sports in the future. Moreover, I believe swimming is also a useful skill, especially during emergency situations; it may save my life in the future.
I think swimming is important to me for the reasons above and I wish I had learnt swimming earlier.
