    It is well known that China has made many achievements since its opening to the outside world. Hong Kong and Macao have retuned to the embrace of their motherland. Beijing has succeeded in winning the bid for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6 aircrafts have succeeded in exploring the outer space by defying the gravity itself. People of all nationalities are living more happily and more harmoniously than before.
    Why has China made so many spectacular achievements? There are many reasons that can account for it, but I think there are mainly three reasons. First, China’s achievements are inseparable from its opening to the outside world. Second, its achievements are inseparable from Chinese people’s arduous efforts to build it into a powerful and prosperous country. Last but not least, China has learned a multitude of advanced experiences from highly developed western countries, which are good for China’s sustained economic growth.
    Of course, China has some problems. The reemployment of laid off workers, the clothing and food problems in some underdeveloped areas, are to be resolved. Resolving these problems is undoubtedly good for China’s political stability and its sustained economic growth.
