    The transportation problem in Wuhan is threatening the public welfare of her fellow citizens never than before. In my office term as the Mayor of Wuhan City, transportation would be the prime issue to be dealt with.
    Traffic congestions are becoming more frequent on daily basis, the capacity of roads are reaching their limit, making safe and efficient passage difficult. Vehicles consuming fossil energy causing the air quality to decline, people tend to have respiratory problems often. We’ve all heard enough complains about the insecurity and uneasiness on the polluted streets, but we cannot shut it all down for good, since the increasing need of transportation is an inevitable consequence of the economic development. Then what should we do?
    Wuhan has a relatively extensive road network, and the construction of new roads is undergoing. Building new roads is part of the solution, you can’t deny that, but it’s not everything about it. Take a look at the dirty buses running recklessly on the streets of Wuhan, the government has ignored its responsibility to support public transportation. We have our mass transit LRT, the state-of-art transportation vehicle, yet its popularity among the public is disastrous. Apparently there is much to do.
    Research revealed that public transportation is the most energy-economic way of commuting. In my solution, there will be a considerable amount of subsidiary injected into public transportation that can greatly reduce individual’s cost on buses and light rail, and I believe it is worthy for all the social benefits gained. Eco-friendly vehicles such as the trolleybus will be supported first. I will also encourage seamless link between different travel modes, making public transportation as convenient as cars.Greener and more efficient commuting will in return promote the economic, promising a sustainable development of our city. There can’t be better choices.
