F: Yeah but what about Wendy? How does Pat manage?
M: Nursery? she goes to nursery. That’s two quid a week out of her twenty. Jones says we Briton must work like beavers. And that is the trouble, isn’t it? People in general just won’t? won’t put their backs into it?
F: It’s all right for you to talk. How much have got coming in every week?
M: I work for it, don’t I? And I am telling you young man that I have worked for it. You don’t know what sacrifices?
F: Don’t I ? You know what our weekly income is? 66.5 pounds, all in. You talk about sacrifices. Well, everyone makes them.
M: Ok, I am an area manager...and that put me in the management class...as it’s called. But a lot of my salary goes in mortgage repayments. Nearly 44 pounds out of 100 pounds! We don’t buy expensive clothes...go out to the theater or cinema.
F: But, you have a regular job...
