问题     The following charts show the changes of the urban population and the rural population between 1990 and 2010. Look at the following charts carefully and write your response in about 200 words, in which you should start with a brief description of the diagrams and give your comments.

答案     As is indicated in the chart above, in the past two decades the urban population more than doubled, while the rural population fell down by around a quarter. Thus, we can securely draw the conclusion that a good many rural residents have rushed into the cities and towns.
    I am deeply convinced that two major reasons account for this phenomenon. First, as the cities and towns expand and develop, a large number of jobs are created. Consequently, a large number of rural workers are needed to fill the vacancies. Second, well-paid jobs as well as pursuit of better living conditions and welfare attract millions of rural fortune-seekers into big cities.
    With the acceleration of urbanization, the tendency portrayed above is likely to continue for some time in the future. We are supposed to avoid the side effects of urbanization while enjoying the benefits that it has brought to us.
