You will miss smiles and brief conversations with people when you shop or dine in a restaurant. Do not think it is because Americans are in such a hurry that they are unfriendly. Life is often much slower outside the big cities, which is true in other countries as well.
     Americans who live in cities such as New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, often think that everyone is equally in a hurry to get things done.
