    Dear Professor,
    I want to convey my apology for the late submission of my final thesis. And I will be very grateful if you are kind enough to listen to my explanation.
    I do want to hand in my thesis on time. However, the situation did not allow me to do this. I was knocked down by a car on Jianshe Road in the middle of June and my right hand and leg were seriously injured. The ligaments were torn and required medical attention. It took almost three weeks for my hand and leg to heal properly.
    I understand that the school requires strict adherence to deadlines. I hope that on account of my situation, you will accept my thesis so that I can graduate on time. I’ll be glad to submit my medical records if necessary.
    I sincerely hope that my delay won’t cause any trouble for you and that you can understand my situation and accept my apology.
