   There is a saying that "Keep good men company and you shall be of the number." Though it is the insight summarized by our forefathers, it is correct and applicable in many cases today. It explicitly notifies us of the impact of the social environment on people. One who has been exposed to the positive environment will be easily encouraged and influenced by the good aspects.
   Actually, the surroundings have a great impact on people. My experience is a good case to this point. When I was a freshman, I was distracted by the free and colorful college life. I always wandered around some interesting but meaningless activities and fastened myself upon everything but study, so I fell greatly behind my classmates. However, one of my roommates, industrious and hard-working, changed my attitude. She enabled me to know that study is a task of the utmost importance for students no matter what happens. Encouraged by her, I returned to my study vigorously and achieved good scores at the end of the semester.
   In summary, we should pay attention to our surroundings and remain exposed only to positive influences.
