    Today is September 10th, the Teacher’s Day. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to express my earnest gratitude and sincere wishes to all the respectable teachers across the land.
    This special day brings back sweet memories of many dedicated teachers, among whom Mr. Li, my Chinese language teacher in junior school, is the most unforgettable. As a poor and dull speaker, I was once paralyzed into silence when my turn came in a class speaking contest. With my palms sweating and my throat tightened, I rushed back to my seat amidst my classmates’ laughter, greatly embarrassed. On the late evening that day, Mr. Li came and asked me to accompany him to a child welfare center to give a hand on weekends, not mentioning a word of my failure. There, we read books to the orphans, told them stories, and taught them songs. Gradually, I found myself more outgoing and popular with my peers. By making me feel useful and important, Mr. Li showed me that I could make a difference.
    The fine impressions of the teachers will remain forever in my most cherished memories. Only by sparing no pains to contribute to the society can I repay their selflessness and generosity.
