    As is illustrated in the chart, people’s choices of spending their holidays have changed over the past ten years. The proportion of travelling abroad has increased considerably from 15% to 25%, while the proportion of people going to the seaside has declined slightly from 40% to 35%. The most drastic change occurred in the proportion of people staying at home, demonstrating a plunge of 25%, which was followed by the boom of camping tripling from 10% to 30%.
    In my opinion, there are a couple of reasons for this phenomenon. For one thing, with the improvement of the living standard, people now have more options to spend their holidays, and travelling abroad, if affordable, is a good way to broaden their horizons. For another, we can deduce from the chart that camping is gradually taking the place of the beaches to become people’s first choice. The reason may consist in the fact that privacy is now taken into consideration, and the crowded seaside is apparently not a good choice to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
    In a word, ways to spend holidays are closely related to social and psychological transformations which deserve our reflection.
