答案 :                    Pride Goes Before a Fall
    "Pride goes before a fall" is such a well-known proverb that I believe all of us are familiar with it. I fully agree with it and its implication. In my view, the greatness of this proverb can be justified in three respects.
    First, if you allow yourself to take too much pride in your temporary achievements, you are very likely to stop working hard and no longer will you make any progress. In this case, you will most probably fail next time. Second, history has taught us that most great men were characterized by admirable modesty, which, as far as I am concerned, is vital to their success. Third, looking at things in the long run, we will find that some of our achievements, though rather encouraging, do not constitute the reason for us to be truly proud, because life is never short of obstacles and we had better keep vigilant all the time.
    It is an age when most people are hardworking in the face of fierce competition, thus modesty is more than necessary. If we stay modest in proper situations, we can make progress constantly, thus our life will be more meaningful.
