    In the picture, we can see a burning cigarette with the smoke curling in a shape similar to the word "life". Combined with the alarming phrase "SMOKING KILLS" under the picture, we can explicitly tell the fact demonstrated in the picture that smoking is equal to slow suicide.
    It is well known that a cigarette contains many chemical substances such as tar and carbon monoxide. Burning cigarettes can produce certain poisonous substances. Therefore, smoking can not only kill smokers but also non-smokers around them. For one thing, the hazardous chemicals damage smokers’ lung cells, blood circulation, sympathetic nerves and respiratory tract, which can shorten their lifespan. For another, non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke are at high risk of many health problems.
    In a word, smoking is no less than slow suicide. It destroys both smokers’ and non-smokers’ health. People thus should try their best to give up smoking to protect not only the health of their own but also that of others.
