    According to the table, it is clear that there are different reading preferences among the students in an American university. The percentages of book circulation for popular fictions and general non-fictions are 65.9%and 18.2% respectively. By contrast, the circulating percentages of science books and art books are only 10.8% and 5.1%.
    There are many reasons accounting for such reading preferences. For one thing, popular fictions usually possess more appealing plots than other types of books do. For another, popular fictions and general non-fictions are easier to understand. What’s more, science and art books are highly demanding for readers’ knowledge on relevant fields. As a result, more students are inclined to choose popular fictions and general non-fictions.
    As to me, books of science and technology win my preference. To deepen what I’m learning, I need to read professional books relevant to my major. These books can also broaden my vision and enable me to know the new development in science and technology. To conclude, one’s reading preference depends a lot on his interest and needs.
