    As can be seen from the table, the year 2006 has witnessed a dramatic increase in the numbers of tourists compared with the result in 2005. In 2005, 11.02 million people chose to travel at home. But the figure is increased by 10% in 2006(12.12 million); and the number of tourists who visited abroad increase by 7.5% in 2006, with the figure of 3.12 million while it was only 2.88 in 2005. It is obvious from the table that people tend to spend more and more money and time on their entertainment during holidays.
    What contributed to this increase? To begin with, people has become richer than before and the living standard has risen up. They are able to afford money for traveling home and abroad. Secondly, as tourist business is playing a more important role in today’s GDP, the government has made great efforts to promote and develop tourism. Besides, it’s an effective way for people at work in such a competitive society, to release their great press and to enjoy the beautiful nature and peace of mind for a short time.
    In conclusion, more and more people prefer to travel rather than stay at home to enjoy their holidays, and this increasing trend will last in the foreseeable future.
