The information management department is the last link in an information systems loop that provides on-line, instantaneous access to data on economic trends, competitive activities, social changes, political developments, and markets.

Profit comes only from the remaining between costs and sales. Besides, how much "more" to be charged depends on other factors. For example, the comparison with other competitors: the company charges high price for its products/services when it has a competitive advantage, or there is uniqueness about the product; and the company keeps the prices for the product/ services artificially low in order to gain market share, increase customer interest and establish a hold in the market.
