    Since the reform and opening, the economy in China has made great progress--with all annual increase of more than 7% and the living standard also have been greatly improved. But there are still many problems, among which the low-level of the peasant is the most worrying. In the rural are- as, there are more than 26million people living in total poverty, with an annual income less than 668yuan.
    China is an agricultural country and the rural population, taking about 70% of the nation’s total population, has great influence on the whole nation’ s development, thus it time that the nation took measures to deal with the problems.
    Before measures taken, we should find out the deep reasons for the problem, say poverty. The poverty is mainly caused by three reasons. First, the infrastructure condition is very poor in the countryside, which hinders the communication between the rural areas and the developed regions. Second, the education in the countryside is also backwatered. The peasants have little or no knowledge at all, thus they cannot fit into the modern world. Thirdly, the agricultural products are not processed, thus they cannot make money for the peasants.
    Having found out the problems, the government then should take corresponding measures. First of all, the government should invest in the construction of the rural infrastructures so that the peas- ants can have access to the updated information and the outside world also can reach the rural areas. Second, the government should emphasize the rural area education, bringing new technology to the peasants so that they can cultivate the farm in scientific ways. Finally, the government should help the peasants to process the primitive products. By doing this, the peasants can earn more money than before.
    With the government’ s and the peasants’ joint efforts, the peasant problem is sure to be solved.
