    With the help of science and technology, the world is developing at an unprecedented rate. People hold different opinions toward the fast development.
    Some people think it’ s certainly a good thing, for the social development brings people much benefit: the living standard improves, the entertainment increases, the productivity advances, the limits of scientific research are also largely pushed.
    Another group of people hold the opinion that the development also has serious downside effects, which, when develop to certain extent, will finally destroy the earth we human beings live in. They point out that to realize the development, human beings have over explored the natural re sources, causing threat for the development of the descendants; human beings’ exploration destroyed the habitat of wild animals as well, making millions of species die out every year in the world. Besides, human beings got the fast development at the expense of the environment. As the environment deteriorates, the old disasters occur frequently than in the past, and new disasters appear one after another, such as hurricanes, tsunamis, which are disastrous for the vulnerable human beings. What’ s more, as science and technology develop, many new deadly weapons that can cause massive destruction appear--nuclear weapons, biochemistry weapons and bacterial weapons are all pushing human beings on the edge of the cliff.
    Considering of so many downside effects, people are convinced that if the world still develop in such a way, it’ s not far for the destruction of the world.
    But although the fast development of the world has brought many apparent and potential down side effects, yet the positive points overweigh the negative ones. What’ s more, as the problems appear, nations in the world have already been busy taking measures to deal with them, such as sigh international environment protection contracts, make strict rules on the producing and use of nuclear weapons.
    I believe that with the joint effort of the world, problems accompanying the fast development will gradually be solved thus the fast developing can best benefit the human beings.
