    High-speed rail (HSR) develops at a high speed in China. Many people, however, prefer slow trains to HSR because of the high ticket price of the latter. In many cases, even airfare is not much higher than HSR fares. As the construction of HSR is still gathering momentum in China, where do you think lies its competitiveness?

    With the booming of science and technology, the alternatives for our trips are becoming rich and varied. This means that some new means of transportation will come on the scene. Currently, the construction of High-speed rail (HSR) is gathering momentum in China. As far as I am concerned, it is a preferred mode of travel.
    The advantage of HSR is naturally self-evident. For one thing, it has well surpassed ordinary vehicles like trains, cars and so on at its dream for speed and comfort at the same time. Compared with the other mode of travel, it has much room, which was equipped with office facilities for businessmen on trips as well as leisure places so that passengers can have free access to the various area in it. For the other thing, it is a brand-new vehicle with the high capacity and energy-saving and environmental protection plus convenience and time-saving. In spite of the same ticket price as a plane, it is much safer than that of plane and has no relationship with climate. Therefore, it is a trend of expressway in the future and HSR will be bound to take the place of planes.
    As it should be, its disadvantage lies in its expensive price which is not widely embraced by ordinary people. For this reason, it has still belonged to consumables only the rich can enjoy.
To conclude, the construction of High-speed rail is becoming an imperative for relieving the pressure from the rail transport in our country and enhancing our competitive strength in the world economy.
