    A lot of people go surfing every day. "Internet" literally means internationally connected. In other words.it is a shared resource. That’s also the reason why it is not a completely secure medium. Our information security is greatly imperiled by Internet.     One of the major threats comes from virus. A virus is programming code that causes some unexpected and usually undesirable event. When one computer is infected by virus,viruses themselves could self-replicate, hide within programs,stem passwords,email themselves and appear to be sent from someone you know. The worst of all could break down the computer.
    Since viruses can be transmitted as attachments to email,by downloading infected programming from other sites or by opening an infected diskette or CD,the following actions can aid in protecting computers from malicious virus:
    Utilize anti-virus software that screens email attachments and checks files periodically. Keep your anti-virus software updated with the most frequent upgrades.
    Know the origin of each program or file loaded or opened on your computer. Do not load software or open files,programs or messages that are suspect or are not from a verifiable source.
    Maintain current backups of your operating system,programs and files in order to reduce damage and time lost if a virus infects your computer. In this way,we could go surfing more safely.
