答案     On the Selection of Campus Queens by Some Colleges and Universities
    In recent years, many colleges and universities in China have created a trend of selecting campus queens. The results of selecting campus queens have been announced on the Internet. As net citizens, we can easily see their names, good-looking faces and beautiful manners. This phenomenon has become a hot topic of many institutions of higher learning. It has become the focus of millions upon millions of people’s attention. Some mass media are especially fond of helping to select campus queens. In the face of such a phenomenon, one cannot help asking the question, "Is selecting campus queens necessary or unnecessary in China?" As this is a thought-provoking as well as a controversial issue, people have a mixed response to it.
    According to a recent survey conducted by an aesthetic association in China, 53. 6% of respondents maintain that selecting campus queens is significant because it is conducive to fostering university students’ aesthetic temperament and help them establish aesthetic psychology.
    However, 46. 4% of respondents argue that selecting campus queens is of little significance because of there being an emphasis only on campus queens’ appearances rather than on their personality traits, abilities, knowledge and morality.
    In my opinion, the selection of campus queens is necessary. It reflects the aesthetic temperament of young adults in China. But what really counts is that we should select campus queens with both beautiful appearances and outstanding talents, that is to say, we should select those just like Lin Huiyin.
