   What is the true spirit of the Olympic Games? Please use examples to illustrate your points.

答案    The true spirit of the Olympic Games, as far as I am concerned, is best expressed in the Olympic Creed: " The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well. " This spirit has impelled athletes to constantly strive to become stronger. Moreover, the true spirit of the Olympic Games can inspire us to make never-ending efforts to improve ourselves in various competitions in our lives.
   Thousands of athletes have participated in the Olympic Games, but obviously only a few can be winners. If our goal is only a medal, then we can get very little from the competition and are bound to miss the spirit of the Olympic Games. Olympic spirit is participation, while fame and fortune is less important. Take John Stephen Akhwari for example, who participated in marathon in the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. When he ran at 19 kilometers, he was unfortunately injured, but he finished the entire race with his strong will. Although he was the last one to complete the game, he became a real hero in the history of the Olympic Games.
   For an athlete, to fight for a better record is their goal and profession. For us average people, to struggle for a better life is our destiny. We tend to think that triumph is our goal in life, but more often than not we have found that after one conquest there come more tasks and challenges. The endless challenges in life require perseverance and a spirit of Sisyphus. Every time after the rock falls back from the top of a mountain, we have to continue to roll it to the top again. Absurd as it seems, this is not a meaningless process, because we have grown mature and become wiser in this struggling process of life.
   Remember, the most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, and the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle.
