    First of all, a good command of English grammar is essential. As Chinese is considerably different from English in many aspects, students are prone to grammatical errors in writing. Too many errors are likely to make a sentence or paragraph incomprehensible, ultimately leaving the article unacceptable.
    Secondly, reading a large amount of literature is conducive. You can hardly become familiar with the terms or jargons used in your sphere of research until you have read extensively. Sometimes you have to pay attention to how a particular author arranges the sentences to achieve a better effect.
    Finally, try to be formal in writing. A research paper requires very formal usage of English, which means using more nouns and prepositions instead of verbs and conjunctions. It’s necessary to avoid using too many short sentences.
    However, it is easier said than done. Improving your writing is a time-consuming process. No one can write beautifully without making painstaking efforts.
