    Dogs are friends of human beings. However, they are not welcomed all the times. Now, a considerable number of people are calling for a ban on raising dogs in the cities. A most irritating thing about dogs is they excrete wherever they find convenient, which pollutes the public places like park, the open areas of the residential quarters. This may be a threat to the pubic health. In addition, dogs, sometimes, may go wild as so to scare, or even worse, to bite people. Even though some dogs are mild-tempered, they still could be a nightmare for those who are afraid of dogs. What’s more, some dogs bark day and night, which is so disturbing that the neighbors can not have a rest.
    An equally large number of people object to this suggestion. They argue that it’s completely wrong to ban the raising of dogs in the cities. In their opinion, dogs are good companions of human beings. They provide good company to the old, helping the old get over the loneliness when their own children can not spend too much time with them. They also give the children living in the cities chances to get closer to animals, teaching them how to take care of the other living beings with kind heart. Even for the busy young people, raising a pet dog helps them relax after work.
    As far as I am concerned, I don’t think it’s a good idea to ban people from raising dogs. First, it’s unfair to drive dogs out of our life simply because they make some troubles, and we human beings happen to be the dominant beings of the nature. It’s true that dog’s waste, barking, and attack on human beings are annoying, but it’s not the dog’s fault. The owners should be more careful when they walk the dogs, preventing them from getting too close to the old and the children, picking up the dog’s excrement. The point here is not to ban the dogs out of our life, but to educate the dog owners so that they can be aware of how to make dogs our true friends, and how to build a harmonious relationship between animals and the neighborhood.
