Now listen to a conversation between two students.
M: So, have your registered for Spring Quarter yet?
W: Yes, but unfortunately I didn’t get all the classes I wanted, like the economics course I still need for graduation. All sections of that course were completely filled up. I couldn’t believe it!
M: Really? That’s too bad. Can you take the course in summer?
W: Hmm, I don’t know. I’ll have to ask my adviser if I can do that and still start business school in the fall. But I don’t think I’ll be able to take any classes at all this summer.
M: Why not? Summer is usually a good time to go to school, and the classes usually don’t fill up.
W: But I’ll be working six days a week at my parents’ restaurant this summer. That won’t leave me with any time to study.
M: Then why not take the economics course in the spring anyway? It’s probably offered at the community college.
W: Oh yeah? I didn’t think of that. But aren’t a lot of the classes at the community college given in the evening?
M: Yeah, but so what? It might be easier to fit an evening class into your schedule.
W: Hmm, maybe that’s true. Well, I’ll have to decide on it soon because I need this course to graduate.
