Listen to part of a conversation between two students.
M: You’re going to the internship fair on Wednesday afternoon, right?
W: What? If I’d known about it, I wouldn’t have scheduled a make-up test in calculus.
M: But you’ve got to go to the internship fair! There’ll be several people there to talk about engineering internships.
W: Oh, if only I’d known....
M: Can’t you re-schedule your test?
W: I wish I could, but it’s a make-up for the one I missed last week when I was sick. Dr. Williams gives us just a week to make up a test.
M: But if you went to the fair, you’d have a good chance of getting an internship for the summer.
W: I know, I know. If only I didn’t have this test....
M: But if you just explained to your professor... She’d probably want you to go. I’m sure she’d make an exception. At least you should try.
W: Well, as long as you’re going to the fair, would you take notes for me? I mean, let me know about anything in civil engineering, and pick up any handouts?
M: Sure, I could do that. But it would be better if you were there in person, in case you wanted to ask questions.
W: I know, but I could still use your help.
