Greek archeologists say they’ve uncovered the largest underground tomb ever found in the country. A farmer stumbled across the tomb near the birthplace of Alexander the Great. The cave was uncovered in an agricultural plot bordering the ancient cemetery of Pella, the capital city of the Macedonian Kingdom. The painted plaster walls still retain some of the original coloring of red, sky blue and gold, and archeologists say the tomb was made in a new architectural style, with a long entrance arcade, leading to 8 chambers covering a total area of more than 60 square meters. The discovery offers scholars a rare glimpse into the life of nobles around the time of Alexander the Great’s death.
