Officials say water levels along the Brahmaputra River still are at dangerous levels although they are dropping. The officials say flooding has destroyed the homes of two and one half million people in Assam State. The floods also have caused much destruction in the States of Bihar and West Bengal. Heavy rains caused the floods. Indian army helicopters continue to fly supplied to the affected areas. More than 120 Indians have drowned or died from diseases carried in the water. In Bhutan, about 200 people have died in landslides caused by floods. And in Bangladesh, officials say the Ganges River may flood the central part of the country. Many people there have fled their homes already.
