U.S. congressman and former entertainer Sonny Bono has died in a skiing accident at a resort in Nevada. Authorities confirmed Mr. Bono suffered head injuries and died immediately after hitting a tree. The body of the 62-year-old lawmaker was found Monday at the heavenly ski resort at Labe Tahol about 2 hours after he was reported missing.
  Mr. Bono and his former wife Char were a popular rock-and-roll singing duo in the 1960s and 70s. Sonny and Cher sang the hit songs: The Beat Goes on, I Got You Babe and they hosted a top rated variety show on TV.
  Sonny Bono entered polities in the 1980s as a conservative republican. He served one term as mayor of Palm Spring, California before winning a seat in the U.S congress in 1994. Press secretary Frank Conen says Sonny Bono made his mark on Capital Hill, Sonny Bono died at 62.
