What does the man’s father want him to do? [br]
W: You don’t look to be in a very good mood.
M: I just had another argument with my father over my choice of majors. [8A] He says that if I don’t change to something more practical than what I’m studying now, I’ll be on my own as far as tuition is concerned.
W: [9C]I should have known it was something like that. It sounds like it’s pretty serious this time.
M: Without his support, there’s no way I’ll be able to stay here.
W: Maybe you should consider your options a little more carefully.
M: I don’t see that I have that many to consider.
W: Look, I don’t want to make things worse between you and your father, but I do think you have other choices.
M: That’s what I was hoping. I’m all ears.
W: First of all, there are scholarships. There’s even an office right here on campus devoted to helping you find and apply for them.
M: I know. I’ve already been there, but I really came over here to find out if you had any other ideas.
W: Of course. Why not think about doing a double major?
M: A double major?
W: Sure. You could satisfy your father and yourself.
M: I see what you’re getting at. I could keep my present major and add something like, well…like business, for example to keep my father happy.
W: That’s what I was thinking. Of course, [10A] it’ll cost more, increase your course load considerably and it might take you an extra term or two to graduate. You certainly won’t be able to hold a job — even a part-time one — while you’re doing a double major; not unless you’re willing to stay in school quite a while longer.
M: But it seems to be the best way. Thanks a lot.
选项
A、The woman thinks it is an easy problem to solve.
B、Many other students have the same problem.
C、The man has discussed a similar problem with the woman before.
D、The woman had already guessed what the man’s problem was.
答案
C
解析
男士提到他刚和父亲关于choice of major又争论了一次,女士则说她早该想到是那件事使他心情不好了,并说It sounds like it’s pretty serious this time,由此可推断男士应该和女士聊过好几次他与父亲关于专业选择的争执,故答案为[C]。
