Britain has announced that it has decided to cancel about 200 million pounds’ worth of the debts owed to it by poorer Commonwealth countries. The international development secretary says the relief was being offered to countries committed to eliminating poverty and pursuing good government. Britain is expected to put forward a fresh initiative on redressing debts of the poorest countries.
