    It would simply be excessively crude to criticize the parents’ good intention to help their children on the registration day. However, it would be equally careless not to notice when the new chapter for the students’ life requires them to be the care-giver and decision-maker for their lives, they are far from being ready.
    All this can indicate that how independence is missed from the characters we try to cultivate in our children. When university life marks the starting point of the students stepping into the adulthood, the importance of independence needs no more elaboration and can speak for itself. Without independence, students simply can not make themselves prepared for the academic requirements they need to meet in universities. And independence is also an indispensable part for the students to engage in various activities on the campus, reaching the goal of self-improvement during the process. And independence for the students’ future development simply can not be overemphasized, be it professional advancement or private life.
    Since we are all aware of the fact that talking and acting would be so distinctive, dramatic and urgent measures need to be taken to remedy the situation. Educational institutions’ emphasis should also embrace students’ character cultivation, and the awareness of the importance of independence should be made crystal clear for both parents and students.
