Police in Australia are holding an eighth suspect in connection with the attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow. Officials seized the 27-year-old Indian man at an airport in Brisbane late Monday. He reportedly was attempting to leave Australia. Intelligence provided by British officials led to the detention.

China says five Chinese citizens kidnapped in southern Nigeria earlier this month have been freed. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the hostages were rescued on Wednesday. The five Chinese are telecommunications workers. They were kidnapped from their temporary home in the oil-rich Niger Delta area on January fifth.
