    It was very kind and generous of you to lend me your Harry Porter two weeks ago and I remember clearly how I promised to take good care of it and return it to you this weekend. But here I am writing to apologize to you for my carelessness and hope to be forgiven.
    Last weekend I took the book with me on the trip to my uncle’s. After I got off the bus I remembered that I’d left my book on it. But it was too late and I have failed to regain it after all my efforts. Fortunately, I found Harry Porter in a bookstore and have bought it for you—it is a different edition from yours and I hope you don’t mind.
    I’m terribly sorry about my negligence and I promise that I will never make the same mistakes again in the future. Please write to tell me that you’ve forgiven me and I look forward to hearing that you wouldn’t mind having the new book.
