Dear Sir,
   I am writing to you in the hope of obtaining a one - year grant to do some research work in your department.
   I am an associate professor in the Department of History in the Central University for Nationalities. In addition to research  work, I also offer courses in ethnology (民族学) and sociology. Recently I have finished a book on the history of the Jews in China, which is to be published by the New World Press in the coming year.
   Enclosed please find three letters of recommendation and my resume.
