   Close windows. A locked door isn’t locked for long if a window is open.
   Valuables. Don’t leave valuables in plain view. This includes coins, CDs, leather jackets, and briefcases. If a thief breaks in to steal a cell phone or laptop computer, he or she may decide to take the car, too.
   Garage. If you have a garage, park in it, and lock both the garage and the car doors.
