    The growing number of cars is one of the main factors which lead to environmental problems. How to solve this issue has arisen great concern. Some people assert that the best way to solve environmental problems is to raise the price of fuel. From my point of view, it is a good way, but never the best.
    Raising the price of fuel, to some extent, has some effects on coping with environmental problems. To start with, the soaring petrol price will cut down the number of cars used by individuals to reduce exhaust emission. In addition, to get more profit, manufacturers will have to limit the amount of fuel used in production and turn to new types of economical and green energy resources.
    But raising fuel price cannot eliminate the pollution. Under great economic pressure, some small producers can not afford the high expense of clean fuel or advanced equipment to lessen the pollutants so that they may choose cheap fuel but environmentally unfriendly.
    Therefore, environmental problem cannot be tackled by merely raising the fuel price. The government should also take actions to increase individuals’ environmental awareness and develop alternative energy as soon as possible.
