W: As someone served in the US military, what does Veterans Day mean to you, Mr. Smith?
M: Well,(9)it’s a day that we actually appreciate all of those that have served in the service, all the way from the beginning of the American Revolution to the current time.
W: Is there something in particular that you do when you are now out of the military? I mean something related to your experience in the US military?
M: Well,(10)now at teaching, I actually try to share that information with my students, especially when I teach something about World War I . So I actually teach the history of Veterans Day.

W: And finally Mr. Smith, do you consider that teaching is a form of service as well?
M: Oh, I sure do. I actually use a lot of the skills I took from the service in my classroom. You know, you don’t leave a soldier behind. I can’t leave a student behind. (11)So I’ll make sure that I carry my students all the way through mission and bring them to success.
