W:A good resume predicts how you might perform in that desired future job. Today Dr. Fusfeld will recommend effective techniques that you can use to dramatically improve your resume. So, Dr. Fusfeld, welcome.
M:Thanks a lot, Susan. We have to say the skills of writing resumes are important for graduating college students.
W:Perhaps you can tell us the basic information about resumes. What do you think about the length of a good resume?
M:A good resume should not go beyond two pages, so deciding what to include and what to leave off is very important. Everything you include should be relevant to the needs of your employer and be designed to enhance your application.
W:Many people wonder whether they should prepare different resumes for different companies. How many resumes should they prepare?
M:The point is not the number. It is vital to fully understand what the company is looking for; parts of your background will be more relevant to what the company requires than others. You can try to match what you offer with the company’s needs.
W:The students have concerned about the education and they often list their grades. Do you have any suggestions?
M:Under education and qualifications, you should keep the list short and concise. Include the details of where and when you received the training but it’s not necessary to list the grades of your qualifications.
W:Dr. Fusfeld, thank you for your suggestions. Anything else you want to add?
M:Yes, the last one, when you are listing any jobs you have had, give a brief summary of your roles and responsibilities and omit any jobs not related to the job. Also avoid listing your salaries.
