问题
I was a freshman in law school. In a few years I would be out in practice. I was well aware of the importance of the right kind of wife in furthering a lawyer’s career. Successful lawyers were, almost without exception, married to beautiful, gracious, intelligent women. With one omission, Polly fitted these specifications perfectly.
I had long wanted Polly. My desire for this young woman was not emotional in nature. I wanted Polly simply because she had the makings of a fit wife for me. She was beautiful, gracious, but not intelligent. Yet, I believed that under my guidance, she would make a qualified wife for me. It is, after all, easier to make a beautiful dumb girl smart than to make an ugly smart girl beautiful. After our very first date, I detected that the biggest problem with her was that she did not know how to think. So I decided to give her lessons in logic.
Fortunately, my efforts proved worthwhile. I had made a logician out of Polly, and she was worthy of me at last. Thus, the time had come to acquaint her with my affection. To my astonishment, Polly turned me down. She employed all that I had taught her to reject me. I was completely defeated. In my frustration, an old saying flashed into my mind, "Pick up a stone only to drop it on one’s own feet".

选项 A、Philosophy.
B、Psychology.
C、Logic.
D、Law.

答案 C

解析 文章开头便说明作者为法律学院一年级的学生,这会误导学生选择D,但文章明确指出“I decided to give her lessons on Logic”,应选C。
