    Thanks to the opening-up policy and the economic development, Chinese people are enjoying richer life today. Dramatic improvements can be observed in many aspects.
    From the diagram we can see that the number of private car owners rose from 12% in 1999 to nearly 40% in 2004. 15% of people bought houses or flats of their own in 1994, while in 2004 the number increased to over 35% -- more than double the number in the year of 1994. More and more students went abroad in the recent years in order to get a better education. In 1999 only 10% of students could afford this, but the number reached to 28% in the year of 2004. When it comes to traveling on holidays, the change is even more obvious. It increased from 20% in 1999 to a little over 50% in 2004.
    All these figures prove that people’s life in China has been amazingly improved. Chinese people are enjoying a richer and happier life.
