    In the picture, residents walking amid fog wear masks to protect themselves from heavy air pollution, while the greedy manufacturer keeps polluting the environment. What this picture tries to reveal is the ongoing PM2.5 crisis, known as particles 2.5 micrometers or smaller in diameter. In fact, these particles tend to stay in the air longer and pose more threats to people’s health.
    Because of its harm to the environment, PM2.5 has already aroused the government’s concern. According to the study of the authorities concerned, air pollution in China is mainly due to the coal-fired power plants, heavy industry, vehicle emissions. Therefore, to tackle the problem, the authorities concerned should strengthen air quality monitoring in cities, especially those heavily polluted areas. What’s more, the government should also order factories and heavy industry companies to scale back emissions. Last but not least, it’s crucial for every resident to shoulder their social responsibility and start to take steps to protect our fragile environment.
    In conclusion, it is only with the joint efforts of government, manufacturers and every citizen that we can enjoy the blue sky, fresh air and shining sunshine.
