答案 ★Studies
— I’m a student. I study English at a private school in Guangzhou. I’ve been there for almost six months.
— Well, like most people taking this test in China, I’d like to study abroad. I’d prefer to study in Australia and obviously English is necessary to get into universities there.
— To be honest, I don’t like it very much. The building is very nice but the facilities inside are not very good at all. Next time I choose a school, I’ll be careful to ask about the facilities in more detail. The teachers at the school are quite good they are certainly very enthusiastic but without the equipment to support them, they can’t do as good a job as they are capable of.
— The teachers are very helpful. They suggest some ways of improving our English faster. I also meet two friends once or twice a week. One is Chinese and the other is a Canadian. We go out and talk in English. I find that to be really helpful. I know that I can learn a lot in class, but there’s nothing to beat real-life practise.
— No, I don’t. To be honest, I find them quite boring. They don’t like to take the teachers’ advice and practise outside the classroom. They also like to complain a lot and I don’t want to be around people with such a negative attitude.
★Films
— I like documentaries and films that are based on true stories. Like many people, 1 find that the real world is often stranger than the fictional ones created by writers and directors. I’m very interested in history, so you won’t be surprised to know that my favourite film is Schindler’s List.
— I think that a lot of older people like watching them, but younger people prefer romantic films and action films. I think that people’s tastes in films change as they get older and they become more interested in the real world.
— My favourite actress is Zhang Zi Yi. I admit that find her very attractive, not only talented. She has made several very good films. A good actor or actress needs to be able to portray a range of emotions on screen and I think she does this perfectly. In recent years, she and Gong Li have been constantly compared and you can often find people who are interested in films discussing which of them is the more talented and which of them is the more attractive.
— That would be great! I’d have to attend a really acting school first, since my acting abilities are not so good. I know that being an actor would be very hard work, but I’d love meeting some famous people and going to some awards ceremonies and parties. Of course, the money would be nice too!
★Food and cooking
— I know that you might think I’m crazy, but honestly, my favourite food is hamburgers. I love them! I like the kind that you can get at American fast food places, but I think that I can make better ones at home. I put on plenty of salad and some cheese. Sometimes they are taller than they are wide! My friends think they’re pretty good too.
— I really enjoy cooking and I think that I can cook many dishes well. My father worked as a chef for a few years and now owns his own restaurant. Sometimes, I would go to watch him cooking and try to help a little. I seriously considered following my father into the catering industry, but I decided that, for me, it was more of a hobby than a career.
— I live alone, so I cook for myself. The equipment in my kitchen is modem, so I can cook whatever I want--whether Chinese food or something originating from abroad. However, I don’t cook every day. Sometimes, I go to a restaurant near my home or school and other times I meet my friends for dinner before going to a bar or cafe.
— I can’t think of anything. My Canadian friend calls me the human dustbin, the first time he did that, I was a little offended, but now I know it was a friendly joke--and absolutely tree! Whenever we are out, I stop at a stall in the street and buy a snack. If it’s something I haven’t tried before, that’s even better!
