　　I first saw David Beckham play for the England football team in France World Cup 1998. Since then I’d been attracted to his excellent football skills and unique personal style.
　　He had played for several prominent football clubs and had collected numerous trophies. The most notable one was his winning the Triple Champions in Manchester United in 1999. At the peak of his career, Beckham is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world with his trademark free kick as precise as a surgical knife. Besides his legendary career in football, he is also a fashion icon, culture ambassador and active philanthropist. He’s been seen in advertisements, films, cultural and charity events, promoting all sorts of commercial brands and cultural values of his country, football and beyond.
　　He’s my favorite sportsman not only because he’s very good-looking and charming, but also he’s an extremely hardworking and perseverant person. He often extends his training time, just to practise free kicks again and again. There’s no doubt that Beckham is a gifted player, but his masterly skills do come from his extraordinary hard practice. Beckham’s story is a vivid example of a boy coming from humble parentage to a successful man with fame and fortune. Now he has an adorable family of five, including fashion designer and pop singer Victoria Beckham and three sons, one daughter. Recently he has become the owner of a football club in America, taking his dream and business to a higher level. I think he’s a role model not only for footballers, but also for people from all walks of life, including me. Beckham’s personality and achievements inspire me to fight for my own dream.
