答案     This is a world of gender equality, or, at least, a world calling for so. Many people are confident that we should not allow women to join the army as soldiers. On the other hand, other people stand on a very different ground. They advocate that women should be entitled to joining the army.
    Some arguments can be made that women should be allowed to serve as soldiers in army. In the first place, it is the rights and obligations for every citizen to defend his motherland. We cannot deprive women of such rights. In the second place, allowing women in the army is beneficial to soldiers’ psychological health. As this society is made up of males and females, the environment consisting only of members of the same sex will definitely lead to mental problems. Finally, the war in modern times uses largely hi-tech weapons. In other words, although women are physically weak, they can still become qualified soldiers.
    However, further analysis would make it clear that women should not join the army. To begin with, female soldiers would reduce the efficiency of military operations. They are more likely to get wounded. As a result it can, when real battle occurs, put the whole troop in danger. Moreover, women’s joining the army would inevitably boost the military budget. The uniforms and weapons such as tanks or helicopters have to be redesigned for the convenience of women soldiers, which takes a good sum of money. Last but not least, female soldiers’ stay in the army is shorter than the male soldiers, as they have another profession waiting for them: mother. Consequently, the country, in the light of training cost, incurs losses.
    In summary, I do not think it a good idea to have females in the army. Females are physically weaker than males and therefore it is difficult for women to be soldiers. In addition, the government would have to invest more money on military facilities for the sake of women soldiers.
