Student A Oh, look! There’s an adjustment to the operating hours of the library.
Student B Yeah, I see. Only the time for reading rooms has changed. On weekends, the hours will be extended to 22:00, so that’s a little longer than the previous hours. That’s really good, isn’t it?
Student A Oh, no. I think you’ve missed the other change there will be a break from 12:00 to 13:00. So the total opening hours are still the same.
Student B Ah! That’s really bad! I’d rather it hadn’t been changed. Better that there’s no break.
Student A Why? I think the break is good for the librarians and maybe also for the readers, ’cause both of them can have a rest during the break.
Student B I don’t think so. The break will cause a lot of inconvenience because many readers like me really don’t like to leave the reading rooms for lunch or for a rest at noon. We usually just stay in the rooms and have a short nap at the desks, and then continue reading in the rooms. So if there’s a break at noon, we’ll have to leave the rooms and find a new place for a rest during that hour. Sometimes that’s really difficult.
