W: Jeff! Long time no see! But why are you so unhappy?

M: My best buddy Sam just moved into a new house and I wanted to get him a housewarming present. I figured a book case would be a great idea, because he reads a lot and the new house has so much space. So I bought one and tried to put it together, but the problem is there were some parts missing.
W: OK, I see. How about taking it back to the store and getting another one?
M: But they said it would take a few days before they could get a new one. I guess they had sold it out. I need to get it now. I cannot go to the housewarming party without a gift.
W: I see your problem. Then try this. You could get your money back from the first store. And you could go to another shop to buy him something other than a book case.
M: That’s not a bad idea. But then I’d have to spend extra money and blow my budget.
W: Sam, you can either have money or have friends. You can’t always have both.
M: I guess I’ll just try your first idea. Maybe...

The man would be seen as uncaring or even rude if he comes without a gift. So I believe taking the time and money to buy a good-quality present in time for the party can prove the man cares about their friendship.
