A top United Nations official has warned that efforts to reduce poverty in Africa are years behind schedule.  UN Development Program Chief Mark Malloch-Brown said Tuesday the goal set 4 years ago by world leaders to cut African poverty by half by 2015 will likely not be met. He said current trends make those goals unreachable before 2147. Mr. Malloch-Brown who spoke to reporters in Geneva said over the next decade Africa must achieve 7 to 8% annual growth and boost investment in basic infrastructure.
