答案    As one of the most important inventions of the twentieth century, the computer has a wide application in all aspects of our lives. As a result, in recent years, the Internet has been gaining its popularity at an amazing rate. It seems that anyone who knows little about the Internet is out of date and lags far behind the times. The Internet plays such an important role that it undeniably becomes the biggest concern of the present-day world. There arises the question: is it a blessing or a Curse?
   Those who welcome the Internet hold that it brings us great convenience and efficiency. Firstly, we can send E-mails to our friends in faraway countries in a few minutes while sending a traditional letter takes us at least a week and costs much. Secondly, we can make friends with people from all parts of the world. It overcomes the geographical barriers and makes the world smaller. Moreover, the Internet accelerates the flow of information and spreads education to all comers of the globe. We can have easy and quick access to the latest information worldwide. Lastly, it enables the disabled to get contact with the wonderful outside world.
   However, like anything else, the Internet has more than one face. While it is in dispensable to mankind, it also brings us serious problems to solve. For one thing, it gives rise to psychological problems. An Internet-addicted person lacks enough social interaction, resulting in inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Those people tend to be a bit isolated, serf-centered and even a bit eccentric. For another, it establishes a challenge to the existing legal system. There is a sharp rise in the number of cybercrime. More and more cases of money laundering and other financial crimes are committed via the measures to cope with such types of crime. In addition, it also exerts a negative impact on the growth of the youth because of the availability of obscene and violent items on line.
   All the above opinions make sense. From my point of view, the Internet in itself is neither good nor bad. As the proverb says, fire is a good servant, but a bad master. What we must do is to encourage the strengths and diminish the weaknesses to the least extent.
