   While we have enjoyed the economic prosperity in the past two decades, we have also run into the problem of fake commodities. At the moment, the production and distribution of these products of inferior quality is widespread and rampant. They not only affect our life, but also interfere with the mainstream economy, as they undercut the prices of normal products and thus lead to unfair competition. Moreover, they also compete for, and in a sense, waste the limited natural resources available. Now a task of top priority is to try our best to solve this problem. But how can we do it?
   First, we should set up or revise the related laws and regulations to fill the gap in the law system or eliminate the loopholes which the illegal producers may exploit to rake in money. Measures should be taken to see that the laws are effectively imposed. Tougher punishments should be levied on anyone or any business that dares to pirate trademarks or infringe copyrights.
   Second, consumers should boycott fake products. At present, some consumers have the false notion that they may benefit from the low prices of those inferior products, but as the saying goes, these consumers are "penny wise but pound foolish". The 19ss they will eventually suffer far outweighs what they may have gained. Think of the safety and health hazards involved in using those cheap products, especially where children and old people are involved.
   Also, many people remain resigned to the situation. After buying fake goods, only a few people take them back to demand a refund, and still fewer people seek for legal support when they have incurred loss. This tolerance may be one of the reasons why fake commodities can survive in our society.
   Third, we should provide more positions for those who do not have jobs. At present many people are jobless for various reasons, but they have to support themselves as well as their families. So some people produce fake commodities illegally in order to make money. With jobs available, perhaps fewer people would want to breach the law and run the risk of being punished.
   In a word, fake commodities are very harmful to our society. Only when the government and all the people make great efforts together can we do away with them.  Everyone should try his best to solve the problem instead of only counting on the government for a solution.
